DEVELOPING STUDENT ATHLETES INTO FUTURE LEADERS

DEVELOPING STUDENT ATHLETES INTO FUTURE LEADERS

Lions United Mission

Our Club's mission is to equip all players with the skill, knowledge, mental focus and fitness to be the best student athletes they can be.  Along with a strong mentoring coaching staff, Lions United goal is to develop a growth-mindset for every player enabling them to mature not just their skill but also their knowledge of the game and mental toughness to be successful.

Our Club's Vision

Our vision is to nurture all students athletes by providing them a fun safe environment full of positive motivation and encouragement. We will develop all of our athletes by promoting them to encompass a growth-mindset. Within the growth-mindset concept, we will aid and support athletes by recognizing and maturing characteristics such as sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, the ability to deal with success and failure and the pursuit of excellence.  This will instill the mental toughness needed as they progress through life whether as athletes, coaches, or in their desired career fields. Ultimately becoming positive role models, distinguished athletes, and great leaders are the goals for all LIONS UNITED athletes.

Our Club's Culture and Values

Alternatively, “In a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment,” writes Dweck. Students who embrace growth mindsets—the belief that they can learn more or become smarter if they work hard and persevere—may learn more, learn it more quickly, and view challenges and failures as opportunities to improve their learning and skills. Excerpt from Carol Dweck book "Mindset: The New Psychology of Success".

Student Athlete

  • Continuously work on your growth mindset and always strive for excellence.
  • Respect all teammates, coaches, officials, parents and opponents, and the game itself.
  •  Maximize efforts in all activities to the best of your abilities at all times.
  • A student athlete is what you do, not who you are. Strive to be the best version of yourself as that what makes you unique to everyone else.
Coaches
  • Protect all student athletes by providing a safe fun environment.
  • Use their passion for the sport to help student athletes find their purpose for growth.
  • Aid in understanding each athlete's individual needs and inspire them to overcome difficulties that each will encounter.

Parents
  • Release your children into a safe environment where failure is not frowned upon and success is a continuous progression.
  • Reinforce the lessons and education being implemented by coaches.
  • Accept decisions and maintain a positive environment, providing positive feedback from match outcomes, coaches decisions, and player performance.
